The legendary travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler has just included Belize in its year-end list of the top places to visit in the upcoming year. With high praise for the luxury resorts in the country as well as Belize’s natural beauty, Condé Nast Traveler gushed about all of the opportunities awaiting travelers in the country.

The magazine also commented favorably on outdoor activities like fly-fishing, exploring some of the huge caves found in Belize, and touring some of the 600 ancient Maya temples, pyramids, and palaces that still dot the landscape. Other popular activities in Belize include bird watching, zip lining, horseback riding, and cave tubing on the mainland as well as scuba diving and snorkeling on the offshore reef.

And the yearly calendar in Belize is packed full of exciting festivals and holidays. Easter and Christmas combine old-world traditions with a uniquely Belizean twist. And Belize’s proximity to the United States and warm climate make it a perennial favorite for romantic getaway vacations on Valentine’s Day. But for many travelers, the best times to visit Belize are the agricultural celebrations, including a chocolate festival, cashew festival, Lobsterfests, and even a mango festival.

Condé Nast Traveler also remarked on the friendliness of the people in Belize. Composed of several very distinct cultures, Belize is a harmonious melting pot society that celebrates its diversity with holidays such as Garifuna Settlement Day (November 19) and a lively Carnival every September.

“Belize has truly arrived on the world stage now that Condé Nast Traveler has taken notice of our beautiful country,” said Douglas Thompson, managing director of Black Orchid Resort. “We warmly welcome Condé Nast Traveler readers, and we’d be honored to show you all of the amazing sights and activities that Belize has to offer.”
